WHAT IS CLEAN BY DESIGN?

“Clean by Design is a programme for improving resource efficiency in textile mills thanks to easy-to-implement, low upfront cost and short payback time actions in the fields of plant management and of process improvement. It has been developed by the National Resources Defence Council (NRDC), the largest environmental advocacy organization of the USA.”

WHAT DOES CLEAN BY DESIGN ADDRESS?

“The program focuses on 10 best practices aimed at improving the care with which a textile mill is managed, maintained and operated and at implementing some technological improvements mostly related to auxiliary systems (heat, steam and water generation, distribution, recovery and management and compressed air in particular) and improved process metering and control.”

HOW DOES IT WORK?

“Within Clean by Design, Manifattura Sesia agreed with Kering to pass through a resource efficiency audit, and to implement some of the actions individuated during it according to an action plan lasting between the end of the audit and the end of 2017.”

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

“Thanks to Clean by Design, the environmental improvement of production goes parallel to the improvement of business of the involved mills.”
